Join a local Indivisible group
Indivisible is “a national grassroots movement empowering local groups to defend democracy, take action on key issues, and organize collective pressure on elected officials.” Use the Indivisible locator tool to find your local group. As of this writing, groups exist for: Williamsburg/James City County; Yorktown, Hampton, Newport News; and the Middle Peninsula.
Build your neighborhood community
The Community Coalition for Common Ground (CC4CG) fosters civic participation by building neighborhood networks, sharing community resources, and empowering voters to uphold democratic values. They aim to foster neighborhood connections in every voting precinct across James City County, Williamsburg, York County, and Poquoson. CC4CG members hold candidate forums, host organizational leaders and other experts, canvass voters, and provide training and education to strengthen civic engagement.
Get engaged on urgent issues
Virginia Organizing is “a non-partisan statewide grassroots organization dedicated to challenging injustice by empowering people in local communities to address issues that affect the quality of their lives.” They have chapters all over the state, and organize events associated with almost every issue imaginable.

Fuel the fight
It takes money to compete in today’s political landscape. If you’re able, send a few bucks to your preferred candidates. The candidates listed below will compete in the Democratic primary election in August. Here are their donation links (listed alphabetically by last name):
Our seat in Congress is precious. We deserve a representative who will help VA-01 prosper, make our lives better, create greater opportunities, and strengthen our country and our democracy.
The American experiment in democracy and self-governance has always been great. Our commitment to making it ever greater continues with the work we do together.
Thank you,
Your neighbors, friends, and fellow Virginians at Wittman Watch
