Wittman’s votes eliminated 11,000 Virginia jobs
Climate science hypocrisy is costing VA01 jobs and prosperity
The Virginia and Maryland Congressional delegations, including Rob Wittman, have written a bill to reauthorize the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office (CBO). This is good - but it’s only needed because of the MAGA anti-climate agenda Wittman keeps supporting.
The Trump regime has proposed aggressive cuts to NOAA:
28% reduction in overall operating budget
75% slash to climate science programs
The CBO is a utility to #VA01, running the Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System (CBIBS), leading oyster restoration, and supporting maritime workforce development. Without the CBO, our VA01 watermen would have less to harvest, not know when they can safely go on the water, and have more trouble navigating the waters.
As the CBO focuses on “climate resilience” and environmental science, it’s directly in the crosshairs of the proposed cuts. This “WATERS Act” is a bipartisan defensive wall to preemptively protect these funds before the next budget cycle begins.
So what looks like good bipartisan and environmentally-conscious work by Wittman is, in fact, only needed because of Wittman’s enablement and defense of the Trump admin’s climate change denial, and anti-environmentalism.
If Wittman weren’t such a MAGA patsy, this whole thing wouldn’t need attention at all. He needs to be unseated in 2026.
