Credit where credit is due
Thanks, Biden
Rob Wittman is celebrating a grant funded through the Federal Transit Administration's Buses and Bus Facilities Program. What he doesn't want you to know is that this grant program was authorized through the Biden administration's FAST Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act). Further, this is a matching grant program that requires state and local funds to fully finance its implementation.
So, he votes against a major bill that improves aging infrastructure in transportation (roads, airports, runways, buses, trains, etc.) and drinking and wastewater facilities, expands high-speed internet, and adds electric vehicle charging stations and other clean energy innovations. Now he's boasting of its successes.
News coverage at the time noted him among House Republicans who opposed the bill, despite later touting specific funding it provided to their districts. Wittman is happiest when his constituents are kept in the dark about his voting record.
